ABOUT ABOUT

Telling stories leads to a deeper human connection. Use a story from your life to help with your professional communication goals. We'll work with you to strategize what story to tell and how to lead with it -- whether your goal is to build a team, get funding for a start-up, sell a product, or communicate with potential clients. Even if your goal is to improve your public speaking overall, using story within a large presentation will invite your audience to listen with new ears.

Through group exercises, self guided worksheets, and one-on-one coaching, participants will use the basic concepts of storytelling to craft a personal narrative that serves as a leadership tool. This is a half-day immersion into the art, craft and science of impactful storytelling. Each participant will leave with a 5 minute story that they’ve workshopped and shared with the workshop group. You will also receive next step strategies for further preparation and implementation.

Sample Schedule:

9:30am - 10:00am: Check-in and breakfast

10:00am to 12:00 pm: Group and pair workshop activities

12:00pm to 2:00pm: One-on-one story sharing with facilitator and group feedback.

Topics include:

  • The stories worth telling
  • Structuring the narrative
  • Attaching the message
  • Preparation vs. improvisation
  • Infusing authentic humor
  • The secrets of engagement

During this workshop you will:

  • Brainstorm the stories that will help you connect with your team and inspire creativity in communication.
  • Dive into the moments of your story that are essential for bringing your listeners along for the ride.
  • Learn how to work your story into the pressure of a time constraint while maintaining clarity, confidence, and audience engagement.
  • Discover ways to infuse authentic humor into your story.
  • Develop the message that adds power to the narrative.
  • Share your story with the group and receive 1:1 feedback from Hillary Rea, founder of Tell Me A Story.
